29th:  Festival of Gamelia Celebrated with Demos Oreiadon

Gamelia is the celebration of the sacred marriage of Zeus and Hera. During this festival, offerings of apples and garlands of white flowers are made to Zeus and Hera. The altar is adorned with peacock feathers (Hera's sacred bird) and Oak Leaves (Zeus' sacred tree). There is a traditional meat sacrifice (see main page) and also married members of our faith are invited to renew their marriage vows if desired.

A note on Events

I also belong to an online temple called Thiasos Zeus. A Thiasos is a temple dedicated to one of the Gods in the pantheon. Part of the devotions done in this group is a weekly libation to our patron. Thursday has been chosen as this date, and thus, every thursday, Zeus will receive a libation in honor of this.

Some of these festivals are performed with my worship group, Demos Oreiadon (they are indicated) in which I am the acting priest of Zeus at this time. If you would like to know more about these particular festivals, there is information at www.demos-oreiadon.8m.net
